At Ridgeview, we believe in transparency, teamwork, and togetherness. There are a lot of ideas floating around about what the PTA is and who it’s for—and we’re here to bust those myths wide open.

Bottom line? Community, we need your voice. Without it, we’re pressing forward to the beat of our own drum. More importantly, we want to meet you where you want to be met. That means listening, learning, and growing stronger together.

PTA Mission

Myth: The PTA is just for stay-at-home moms.

Fact: The PTA is for everyone! Our volunteers include moms, dads, guardians, grandparents, and even older siblings. Whether you stay at home, work part-time or full-time, have little ones (or big ones!) at home, or are just juggling a busy life—we’ve got a place for you. Every bit of time and talent is valued here!

PTA Mission

Myth: The PTA is made up of the same parents every year and everyone knows each other.

Fact: We love our returning volunteers—but we also welcome new faces every year! Ask anyone who’s joined the PTA—they’ll tell you it’s where they found their people. Many of us didn’t know anyone at Ridgeview at first, but getting involved opened the door to real connections and friendships that have lasted over the years.

PTA Mission

Myth: The PTA already has plenty of help.

Fact: Trust us—when it comes to help, we’re always looking (and honestly, sometimes a little desperate!). We put out calls for volunteers, reach out to room parents, and try everything we can to get the word out. The bottom line? We can't pull this off without more people stepping in. Whether you lend a hand for something small or jump into a bigger role, your help matters more than you know.

PTA Mission

Myth: Volunteering with the PTA takes too much time.

Fact: YOU decide what works for YOU. One event. One shift. One task. Every bit helps, and you don’t have to do it all. Even the smallest effort can make a big impact! No matter what, there’s a place for every level of involvement.

PTA Mission

Myth: PTA volunteers need to be at the school during the day.

Fact: Nope! So much of what we do can be done at home, during evenings, and even on weekends. Volunteering on campus is also an option, but it’s all about finding what fits your schedule.

PTA Mission

Myth: Joining the PTA means I have to volunteer.

Fact: Becoming a PTA member doesn’t automatically mean you’re signing up to volunteer (unless you want to!). Your membership alone helps support our mission and gives you a voice in what we do. Volunteering is always appreciated—but never required.

PTA Mission

Myth: The PTA already has everything planned for the year.

Fact: Our calendar grows with ideas from you! In fact, many of our best events and improvements have started with a simple suggestion from a volunteer. Got an idea? Let’s make it happen together!

PTA Mission

Myth: The PTA is just about celebrations.

Fact: While we love a good reason to celebrate, the PTA’s role goes far beyond that. From distributing school supplies and fundraising for campus improvements to decorating hallways and supporting school-led events like the Spelling Bee, Kindness Week, and World Culture Night, we’re here to strengthen the entire Ridgeview experience. Behind the scenes, we’re coordinating, communicating, facilitating, and doing whatever it takes to bring the magic to Ridgeview.

PTA Mission

Myth: I don’t have anything to offer the PTA.

Fact: If you have a child at Ridgeview, then yes, you do. Sharing your ideas, offering your feedback, lending your voice, or simply being a listening ear can mean more than you realize. No special skills are required—just your heart and a little of your time.

You made it to the bottom of the page—and that tells us you care. 💙

We hope we’ve helped clear up some common misconceptions and shown that there’s room for everyone here. Whether you’re ready to jump in or just looking to stay connected, your presence makes a difference.

Let’s build a PTA that reflects the whole Ridgeview community—loud, proud, and growing together.
